April 6th, 2007 Lumbar Routine Results: Disappointing progress after 6 months of doing inverted sit-ups with weights

 

Warning: There may be contradicting reports or explanations with respect to the outcomes/methods of the lumbar routine as compared to past updates. Please review the recent findings carefully and use your best judgment. Feel free to disagree with our explanations and do whatever you want.

In addition to being active such as jogging/cycling for 30 minutes or more daily, lumbar experimenters also do 60 to 80 inverted sit-ups with 25 to 30 lb each hand everyday for 6 months straight and have NOT grown anything permanently. (See pictures above)

 

*      Lumbar Routine Overview:  It is believed that one may lengthen the spine longer by performing inverted sit-ups with dumbbell weights. You can find the Lumbar Routine by clicking here!

*      Duration:  About 96 lumbar experimenters started the routine since July 2006 to February 2007.

*      How it was done:  Everyday for the past 6 months, lumbar experimenters perform about 60 to 80 inverted sit-ups with 25 to 30 lb (11.3 kg to 13.6 kg) each hand. The routine takes less than 30 minutes including a 2-minute to break between each set of 10 inverted sit-ups.

*      Results:  Disappointing.  Despite staying consistent with the lumbar routine for more than 6 months (since July 2006), a growing number of lumbar experimenters reported that they did NOT see any noticeable lumbar growth. The lumbar routine basically involves jogging/biking plus inverted sit-ups w/ heavy weights. A total of 96 lumbar experimenters, but less than 25 or so reported back their progress. Most experimenters are over the age of 21 whose growth plates have closed. Out of the 25 lumbar experimenters, 3 reported a growth of 1 to 2 cm in height growth. It’s unclear whether such growth was temporary or permanent. The other 22 experimenters reported disappointing results (or temporary growth) and revealed that gravity will always win in the end because your spine is compressed to its original height within an hour of standing.

*      Why did most of the die-hard lumbar experimenters fail to grow taller despite doing inverted sit-ups with 25 or 30 pound dumbbell weight each hand?
- More than 22 lumbar experimenters failed to grow taller in the spine despite inverting with 25 to 30 lb dumbbell each hand for more than 6 months (since July 2006). It's because the cartilage discs in the spine compress VERY VERY FAST and there's just no way to prevent that. We're really frustrated about its outcomes. With ground impact exercises like jogging with ankle weights, reports from past experimenters suggest that the shinbone has the greatest potential of developing microfractures, then the thigh bone, and lastly the spine (LEAST likely to benefit from any microfractures thus explain our failure in spinal growth).

*      Did you guys just post a success story about Devon who grew like an inch taller after doing intense biking plus inverted sit-ups with weights? Did you include vigorous biking in the lumbar routine?
- In light of Devon’s success and in addition to 60-80 inverted sit-ups w/ wts daily, about 8 lumbar experimenters began to incorporate intense biking for 1 hour daily (monday to saturday) at Bally Total Fitness® for 5 weeks straight and have NOT grow any centimeter. As you can see, we’re frustrated by the fact that spinal compression occur very fast as soon you get off the chin-up bar. We have no idea how or why Devon grew taller.. maybe due to growth spurt or improved posture? To learn how Devon grew an inch taller, Click here!

*      I know you guys are pissed off about the failure.. but do you continue to experiment the lumbar routine so to improve its success rate?
- After 6 months of no growth, we’re very tired right now. We’re taking a break from the lumbar routine… and will focus more on the shinbone routine due to recent findings. We may re-visit the lumbar routine someday or whenever someone could come up with a better idea of fighting against gravity-induced spinal compression.
