Kicking with ankle weights

 

*      How it works:  It is believed that by doing 6,000 kicks daily with dumbbell weights, one may possibly grow up to half an inch within 6 months. By doing so, microfractures (tiny bone fractures) may be generated as the shin bone is lengthened in a process that calcium will deposit in such fractures and heal those areas.

- Athletes, bodybuilders, or physically active individuals tend to achieve slightly better results than others (physically inactive) when kicking with ankle weights.

*      Level of Difficulty:  Easy

*    Duration:  4 weeks (March 2004)

*    Result: Not conclusive.  I did not gain any centimeter.
- The result of this experiment is not available due to the fact that I only experimented kicking with ankle weights for less than four weeks.  In the end, I stopped kicking with ankle weights because my knee felt uneasy.  Also, I was afraid of damaging my knee ligament.  I could have continued with kicking but then I was more interested about sitting with ankle weights.

At first, I’ve developed a routine to kick while comfortably sitting on a chair. The purpose is to kick very low but do not touch the ground, so to conserve your energy for the next kick and to protect your knee. Basically perform 10 kicks with your left leg, then rest, and immediately do 10 more kicks with your right leg.



      

It took me about a month to finally come up with another technique for kicking, which is to kick in a vertical position. Basically raise your left leg up about 5 inches from the floor (about 12 cm).. Do not raise too high. Next, slightly cock your leg back & prepare to kick downward.
