Stationary Inversion: Total Back System

 

*      How it works:  It is believed that by inverting in a stationary position (motionless or not moving) while holding dumbbell weights, your spine will be lengthened about half an inch within 6 months.

- Athletes, bodybuilders, or physically active individuals tend to achieve bad results when hanging upside down motionless while holding dumbbell weights.

*      Level of Difficulty:  Easy

*      Duration:  3 months plus 2 weeks (May 11, 2005 to August 27, 2005)

*      Result: ONGOING RESEARCH.  I possibly grew about 0.5 cm in temporary growth.  But I lost it all once I stopped inverting.  After 3 months and a half, I’ve come to realize that kinetic inversion (caused by motion such as performing inverted sit-ups) is far more effective than stationary inversion (motionless inversion).  Also during this period, my back and abdominal muscles were weak and stiff because I never thought about building muscle mass.  Building muscle mass is an important key to achieving the very first inch.

 

 

*      There are 2 inversion methods while performing with the Total Back System:

Method #1: For more than 3 months and a half, I’ve been inverting with this method in which I hold 30 lb dumbbell weight each hand every day for 90 to 120 minutes (in divided sessions) and have NOT gained any centimeter.

 

Advantage: This method is very easy to perform because you will be in an upside position in just 15 seconds of preparation. All you have to do is climb on this machine and off you go!

 

Disadvantage: I loved this method so much that I stuck to it for more than 3 months plus 3 weeks; unfortunately, I’ve only achieved temporary height gain (0.5 cm). As a result, I have NOT gained anything from this method.

 

Result: ONGOING RESEARCH

I love this method very much and consistently invert everyday with 30 pound dumbbell weight each hand (total 60 pounds) for 3 months plus 2 weeks and have NOT gained any centimeter.

 

 

Method #2: This method is a little more intense than method #1 due to the fact that there are more iron plates involved.

 

Advantage: Higher intensity level.

 

Disadvantage: This exercise is very difficult and uncomfortable to perform because you will need some time for preparation (6 minutes) such as strapping weights, foam, and metal chain around your torso. In picture above, I’m inverting on the Total Back System with foam, 40 pound iron plates, and metal chain around the torso. At the same time, I’m holding 30 pound dumbbell weight each hand. I invert with 100 pounds in total.

 

Result: ONGOING RESEARCH

I invert with this method for only few weeks and have NOT gained anything significantly. So I quit! Besides, my back hurts a little bit when I invert more than 40 pound iron plates. It’s the uneasy sensation that I feel in my spine whenever I invert with this type of stationary, yet extreme exercise.

*    Result: ONGOING RESEARCH.  I possibly grew about 0.5 cm in temporary growth.  But I lost it all once I stopped inverting. 

 

Inverting motionless with gravity boots while holding dumbbell weights is very popular among height seekers in the world of height increase.  Some people claimed to have grown more than 1 inch within 3 months of inverting with 40 pound dumbbell weights.  Well, of anyone ever makes such claim, please shoot them for me because that 1 inch is NOT permanent. They will lose it immediately once stopped inverting.

About the above picture (on the right), I’m inverting with 25 pound dumbbell weight each hand plus 32 pound ankle weight strap wrapped around my torso (total is 82 pounds).  I remember one time I did try to invert with 130 pounds.  And guess what, any form of stationary inversion is not effective because I have NOT gained anything!  Even worse, my spine feels uneasy because the weights are too heavy – what a horrible feeling!

 

 

 

Stationary Inversion: Traction Tables, Inversion Machines, Gravitational Devices & Slings

*      Statistical Success Rate:  Low (Athletes)

*      The following traction machines and inversion tables listed below are UNLIKELY to make you grow taller due to their purposes which only serve as stationary (motionless) stretching.

I did not experiment with these traction tables and inversion machines (above); however, based from the similar experiments that I’ve conducted with the Total Back System and BodyTrends’ Inversion Boots, I strongly believe that any form of inversion in a stationary position will lead to disappointing results.  Once and for all, I’ve proven that this type of inversion is great to relieve stress or backache but does very little to produce permanent height gain.  Therefore, do NOT buy them if your goal is to grow a few inches taller!
